Ann Smith Obituary
Born January 6, 1938 in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Carl Aldrich Sachs and Virginia Lee (Barnes) Sachs. She was also preceded in death by her brother: William Sachs; her son-in-law: Barry Baker; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Ann was a graduate of Fort Hill High School Class of 1956 and owned and operated the Country Honey Pot Store for several years. She was very talented at knitting, crocheting and counted cross stitch and enjoyed her Wednesday knitting group. She was a member of the former Zion United Methodist Church and had a deep love for animals, especially dogs.
Ann is survived by her husband of 69 years: Walter L. Smith, Sr.; her children: Kathy Mason and husband Ed; W.L. "Chip" Smith, Jr. and wife Priscilla; Melody Harbell and husband Jamie; and Amy Baker and friend Glenn Brooks. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren; and 4 step great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Oncology Staff at the Potomac Valley Hospital, and Patricia Sheetz, CRNP.
A memorial service will be conducted at Centenary United Methodist Church, 14501 Bedford Road, NE, Cumberland, MD 21502 on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 1:00 P.M.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at Centenary United Methodist Church, on Saturday, January 3, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. with a dinner to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Centenary United Methodist Church in her memory.
Interment will be in Zion Memorial Park at a later date.
