Barbara "Ann" Thornhill Suttle made her final appointment to her final destination on August 11, 2022 in the care of her family when she finally was reunited after a long wait with her beloved Buzzy Suttle. Born in Giles County, VA on August 21, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Gertrude Perkins Thornhill.
Ann's most treasured gifts in this life was that of her family. Next to her family though, perhaps was the love she had for a young man named Elvis Presley. If you were a neighbor you were blessed for you could always look at her front porch, knowing she was waving to you as you passed by or was talking to a friend. This is how she became the first lady of Smith Hollow Road. Ann would give to her community with 36 years of work in the Spinning Department at Celanese. If it was a Saturday, or someone had a Friday Yard Sale, Ann would be there seeing what treasure she could find. On any day however, you could find her crocheting, gardening, and watching the birds and butterflies for which she made a home.
In addition to her parents, Ann is preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Lee "Buzzy" Suttle; sisters, Gladys Anderson, Frances Stout, and Leatha Jones; and brothers, Paul, Gary, Roy, and Chester Thornhill.
Left to cherish her memory to their hearts are her son, DeWayne Suttle of Pembroke; daughter, Paula Suttle of Pembroke; sisters-in-laws, Linda Thornhill, Becky Thornhill, Shirley Thornhill, Frances Thornhill, Sue Martin, Teresa Grimmett, Pam Dunn, Lisa Dunn, and Sherry McCrady; brothers-in-law, Roger Dunn; best friend Gail Smith; special neighbors, Rodney and Gail Smith; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
There will be a funeral service conducted Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Funeral services will conclude in the Anderson Cemetery. The Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 1:00 until 3:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home. A guestbook is available by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Suttle family.

Ronnie and Karen Copeland from Taylorsville NC

August 13, 2022

To Ann's family, we were so sorry to hear of Ann's passing. Through the years, after we moved to NC, we lost touch with Ann but spoke of her often. Sometimes life just gets in the way. We always thought a lot of her. She was a sweet loving person. I remember her big smile. Years ago, Ronnie and I took her and Buzzy to Graceland in Memphis and we also visited Loretta Lynn's ranch in TN. We had a wonderful time. We had wanted to visit her and I had lost her phone number over the years. But she was always close in heart. Our love and prayers are with you all. I know she is so happy to be reunited with Buzzy. God bless you all !!!
