Ann Marie Tacheny passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on December 5, 2023 at her home in Litchfield, MN. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Litchfield, MN at 12:00pm, with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery and lunch at the church will follow the service.

Ann Marie (Brummer) Tacheny was born on January 13, 1944 in Richmond, Minnesota to John and Anne (Schutz) Brummer and grew up on a farm near Manannah, Minnesota.   She attended Manannah District #51 school through 6th grade and then attended and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1962.  She attended St. Ben’s College for one year and then worked at 3M.  Later she used her creative decorating skills working part time as a florist at Greenbriar Floral.

On August 21, 1965 she married the love of her life, Joseph Tacheny. After living briefly in Rhode Island while Joe finished his Navy tour, they made a home in Litchfield and raised their 3 daughters.  Ann was a remarkable, caring, and loving woman, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was at her happiest when surrounded by her girls and grandchildren at home or at their cabin.  She had an amazing sense of style and was famous for her quick wit and her fantastic sense of humor.   She loved her family dearly and always made sure that holidays, parties, and get togethers were very special.  She was a great hostess and loved to entertain.

Ann enjoyed time at their cabin on Lake Koronis and later, on Child Lake, fishing, and playing cards with family and friends.  Ann also enjoyed fishing trips to Lake of the Woods, casino trips, golfing, bowling league, snowmobiling, birthday girls club get togethers, and friends stopping over for a cup of coffee or a cocktail.

She ended each day with a glass of chardonnay with 3 ice cubes, playing cribbage with Joe, and often winning.  She valued her good friends over the years.  She dearly missed the ones who have passed and treasured the ones still here.

She is survived by her loving husband Joe; their three daughters Kris (Mike) Graves of Bloomington, Minnesota, Kate (Tony) Najera of Loveland, Colorado, Amy (Brandon) Larson of Litchfield, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren Joe, Jack and Luke Graves, Katie (Lewis) Johnson, Erin (Franklin) Hansen, Joshua (Ashley) Ehrmantraut, Anthony Najera, Brandon (Cameron) Najera, Gabby (Chris) Key, Grace (Jacob) Lundin and Wyatt Larson; 4 great-grandchildren Bryson, Ryder, Sawyer and Leon;  1 great-great grandson Avalon; siblings Rita Holm (Conrad), Rosie Brummer and Hank (Barb) Brummer; sisters-in-law Joanne Tacheny, Carole (Ray) Mueller, and Darlene Vick; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Kay, many wonderful sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and other treasured relatives and friends.
