Ann Thomas, age 89, of Scottsboro, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 3, 1935 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late George Emmitt Rushing and Sarah Louise Henley Rushing. In 1954, she was united in marriage to Elder Gene Thomas who preceded her in death in November 2021. Surviving Ann are her children; Troy (Rebecca) Thomas of Piketon, Ohio and David Mark (Cheri) Thomas of Monteagle, Tennessee; grandchildren, Marie Brock-Smith, Amy Thomas, Jared Thomas, Joel (Hayley) Thomas, Cassandra (Isaac Milyard) Thomas, Charity Thomas and Case Thomas, and her great grandchildren; David Brock-Smith, Sylar Brock-Smith, Emma Brock-Smith, Mila Brock-Smith, Bennett Thomas, Xander Doss and Bryce Doss; sister, Sarah Pyles of Brandon, Mississippi and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her granddaughter; Rebecca Doss and siblings; George Everett, James Allen Rushing and Edna Rushing. Local arrangements are in the care of Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly, Ohio. Service arrangements are in the care of Scottsboro Funeral Home, 1502 County Park Road, Scottsboro, Alabama, 35769. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025 beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Union Primitive Baptist Church in Woodville, Alabama on Monday, August 4th, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with Elder Darrel Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Ann will lie in state at the church prior to the funeral services beginning at 9:00 a.m. Arrangements Entrusted to Scottsboro Funeral Home
