In the early morning of September 1, Ann Gertrude Turnbull passed away peacefully and pain free in Waldorf, Md. She was survived by her 5 children, Gail Kearney, Thomas Turnbull, Richard Turnbull, Christopher Turnbull and Regena Turnbull. She was grandmother (Grama)to 15 children and 10 great grandchildren (Yaya). Ann was born in New York City and raised in Brooklyn and Keansburg, New Jersey. She had three siblings, Mary Dente, Edward and Billy Kelly, who all preceded her in death. Ann was a kind, patient and loving mother, wife and friend. Her husband of 68 years, Tom Turnbull, preceded her in death in 2022. They traveled extensively all over the world for his career as an aerospace engineer. She helped build and support his career as well as raising five (fabulous) children. Everywhere the family settled, Ann created a home that was beautiful and safe. As children we were so lucky, she always considered our unique personalities when designing our personal spaces. We moved many, many times and an oasis was always created. Ann and Tom were part of a group of friends from New Carrollton, and she maintained those relationships for 60 years. The women of the New Carrollton group formed an additional group "the sewing circle" and they all stayed connected, over years until they were all deceased. Ann was one of the last in the group. She was respected and well-loved and will be always be missed for her kind spirit and bright light. Mom, we love you and we will always carry you in our hearts. Services will be held at St. Peter's Church in Waldorf, Md., on Thursday, September 4, visitation for family and friends will be from 9 to 10 and mass will be from 10 to 11. There will be a repast at Green Turtle in La Plata from 11:30 until 2:00. Please join us to share our memories.
