Ann L. Zaborsky, 83
POLAND It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ann L. Zaborsky of Poland, Ohio who left us Wednesday October 22, 2025 at the age of 83 years after a brief illness.
Ann was born June 2nd, 1942, the daughter of Harry H. Copp and Victoria (Starcevic) Copp in
Campbell, Ohio. She was a graduate of Ursuline High School. Ann married Joseph T. Zaborsky on January 18th, 1964 and subsequently created their beloved family of 4 children.
Ann, often affectionately referred to as "Annie Bananie", was not only a mother to her own children but shared her loving ways amongst friends and the friends of her children. She was accepting of all people, never judgmental, and a sweet soul to the core. She had a mischievous sense of humor that was the catalyst for many wonderful memories and stories that she leaves us all to cherish.
Annie was an amazing cook and was well known for her considerable yearly Christmas cookie baking. The kitchen quickly became off limits to all of us when Annie's cookie making extravaganzas began but that ban was well worth it resulting in many happy holidays and full bellies. She had an almost magical way with animals of all kinds including family pets, local squirrels, and raccoons. Foregoing traditional honeymoon destinations, she happily went to the Washington Zoo multiple days in a row instead, and of course, tried to feed the animals.
Annie Bananie leaves behind her children Joseph Zaborsky of Youngstown Ohio, Victoria Dubos of Campbell Ohio, Matthew Zaborsky of Carlsbad California, and Joanne (Paul) Starkey of Youngstown to cherish her memory. She was overjoyed to be grandmother to James Dubos of Poland Ohio who shares her wonderful sense of humor. She also leaves her dear granddogs Epcot, Bodhi, Johnny Cash, and her special anxiety-ridden pal Mr. Spock with whom she shared a special bond.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Harry A. Copp, sister-in-law Betty Copp, son-in-law James Dubos, and many family pets who surely greeted her upon her heavenly arrival.
The Zaborsky family has entrusted Ann's care to the Wasko Funeral Home in
Campbell, Ohio.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday November 7th, 2025 from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Mauthe Park Meeting Room located at 156 Smithfield Street in Struthers Ohio 44471. All are welcome to share a meal and some Annie stories. We encourage you to wear your brightest clothing as Annie loved bright, vibrant colors which reflected her personality perfectly. Formal wear definitely not required.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Annie's son-in-law, Paul, for his remarkable demonstration of love, patience, and support, which played a profound role in enriching Annie's life. We would also like to say a very special thank you to Annie's niece Janine Copp-Miligi for being there for her during her final hours and to the staff at Shepherd of the Valley Poland for being her friends and helping her maintain independence. Lastly but certainly not least, thank you to the physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, and absolutely wonderful sitters at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and Hospice of the Valley for their kindness and for making Annie comfortable at the end of her beautiful life.
