John "Jack" S. Sullivan, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on October 30, 2025,
Born on November 15, 1948, in Youngstown, a son of the late Robert E. and Isabel Kennedy Sullivan.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Jack served from 1967 to 1971, where he was a deep sea diver, achieving the rank of Boatswain's Mate Second Class (BM2). He exemplified a longstanding career at the Youngstown Municipal Airport. After 44 years, Jack retired as a maintenance manager and foreman, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication that impacted those he worked with.
Jack was a 1967 graduate of Ursuline High School. His passions extended beyond his professional life; he was actively involved with the Boy Scouts from boyhood. Jack served in many local and council leadership roles and adult development programs being awarded a Silver Beaver, the highest honor a local council can bestow upon a registered Scouter for distinguished service to youth in the council and community. Jack was most proud of the many Eagle Scouts he mentored along his scouting adventure. Additionally, he found joy in his hobby as an amateur ham radio operator, forging connections and friendships over long distances.
Jack leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Dolores "Dee" A. Slifka Sullivan, whom he married June 16, 1973; two sons, Robert J. (Janet) Sullivan of Columbus and Timothy P. (Rachael) Sullivan of Philadelphia, PA; six grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, Lydia, Amelia, Ezra, and Nora; his twin sister, Ginny (Joe Yannerella) Sullivan of Austintown; his brother, Joseph Sullivan of Youngstown; and his sister-in-law, Susan Pelyhes of Niles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on November 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM at St. Rose Church, 48 Main Street in Girard where family and friends will gather to celebrate Jack's life and legacy. Prior to the Mass, calling hours will be observed at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 4303 Mahoning Ave., from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
Jack was also preceded in death by his brother, William Sullivan.
