Anna E. Chappuis, 94, of Hillsdale, NY passed away on September 18, 2025, at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington MA. Born on January 13, 1931, the daughter of Burton and Ethel (Patterson) Leach, Anna graced the lives of everyone she met with her loving kindness and vibrant spirit. Throughout her life, she was known not just for her warmth but also for her fun-loving personality, often lightening the mood with her joyful sense of humor.
Anna was a devoted homemaker who also worked as a cafeteria aide at the Roe Jan School for a number of years. Outside of her family, Anna had a passion for gardening, baking, sewing, crocheting, painting, bowling and nurturing the beauty of nature. An avid oil painter, she found joy in capturing the essence of the world around her on canvas. Her love for birds was evident as she enjoyed feeding them and observing their graceful movements, a reflection of her gentle soul.
As a proud family-oriented individual, her greatest joy was raising her family. Anna is survived by her two daughters, Jane (Allen) Weaver and Shirley (Peter) Weaver. She has 11 cherished grandchildren: Trish, Joshua, Krista, Sarah, Laura, Micah, Benjamin, Marisa, Kaitlyn, Peter II and Linzie, each of whom holds special memories of their grandmother close to their hearts. Additionally, Anna was blessed with 21 great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Cameron, Lillian, Amber, Vanessa, Dillon, Emma, Lawrence, Wolfgang, Piper, Keyden, Ava, Oaklee, Jax, Connor, Wyatt, Zoie, Ethan, Alexis, Emalynn, and Nathan Jr., along with 1 great-great-grandchild, Rhett.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester Chappuis Sr., her son, Chester Chappuis Jr., her granddaughter Tamara Brown and siblings Wilber, Ruth, Lois, Caroline, Burton II, and Arnold.
