Anna May Conklin of Harwich, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 1st at the age of 94.
Anna was born Anna May Youell in Hartford, Connecticut and grew up in East Hartford. She worked as a secretary at First National supermarkets and met her husband Philip at a formal dance at Westover Air Force base. Together they moved around the country during his career in the US Air Force. Aside from New England, they lived in Palos Verdes, California and then Annandale, VA when Phil was assigned to the Pentagon. After Phil's military career, Anna and Phil settled on Cape Cod in 1973 to raise their family. Anna loved the outdoors and hated to stay inside during the summer months. Boating, fishing and waterskiing on Pleasant Bay, Cape Cod Bay and Long Pond, Anna fully enjoyed the life that the Cape offered her and her family. Many of Anna's extended family also moved to the Cape and participated in epic adventures every summer. Always up for a party, Anna celebrated any and every occasion with her family and never wanted the party to end. Family was most important to her. She cherished spending time with her four beloved granddaughters Anna, Carolyn, Maddie and Ella, who knew her as MayMay.
Anna is survived by her son Mark and his wife Kathleen and their two children, Anna and Carolyn; her daughter Debra Coccoro and her husband Anthony and their two children Madeleine and Eleanor ("Ella"); and many loved nieces and nephews. Her husband, Phil, predeceased her in 2016.
Anna, Phil, Mark and Debra are charter members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Harwich.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9th, from 10-11 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 310 MA-137, Harwich, MA 02645. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, August 9th, at 11 am at St. Peter's Church. Burial will follow.
