Anna Carylon Fox Hinds, J.D., of Knoxville passed away peacefully on May 25, 2022. She was born October 13, 1938 in Newport, Tennessee to Ivan Fox and Edna Elizabeth Vick. Anna was a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Law, Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, and Tennessee Wesleyan College. She began her law career in Knoxville in 1967 with the formation of her own firm. Anna was a believer in giving back to her community. She proudly served on the Knoxville Opera Company Board of Directors, Knoxville Opera Guild and Knoxville Symphony League, Leadership Knoxville and Alumni Board as Class Representative, The Westlands Association Board of Directors and Secretary, the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities Board of Directors and Legal Counsel, Knoxville Chapter Historic Ramsey House Board of Directors and Parliamentarian, Workforce Connections Board and Executive Committee, Knoxville – Knox County Community Action committee Private Industry Council and Executive Committee, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley Laura Cansler Unit Board of Directors, Corporate Board of Directors and the Secretary of the Executive Committee, Girls Club of Knoxville, Inc. Laura Cansler Unit Board of Directors, Planned Parenthood of East Tennessee, Inc. Board of Directors and the Knoxville Roundtable of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Anna also served on Vanderbilt University's Board of Trust, Executive Committee, The Campaign for Vanderbilt National Committee and the Oak Leaf Society, Capstone Level. Additionally, she was a member of the Vanderbilt University Alumni Association ex officio Member Board of Directors, Executive Committee Board of Directors and President. Anna was an avid fan of tennis and played weekly with her coach, Jimmy Pitkanen. She is preceded in death by husband, Howard N. Hinds; parents, Ivan and Edna Fox; brother, Landon Fox; and sister-in-law, Ann (Jim) Kelley. She is survived by sister, Phyllis (Neil) Lawson; sisters-in-law, Gayle Fox, and Karen (David) Johnson; brother-in-law, Pat (Harriett-Deceased) Hinds; niece and nephews, Sherri (Mike) Roberts, Benton (Ashley) Lawson, Tracy (Harry) Murley, Lana (Tom Slawson) Fox, M.D., and Michael (Alison) Fox. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
