Anna Mae (Melton) Freeze, passed away peacefully at the Woodland Manor Care Home in Springfield, Missouri on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the age of ninety-one.
She was born to John Otis and Millie (Holman) Melton on March 9, 1932, the youngest of seven children. She grew up on their farm in Dade County, Missouri and graduated from Dadeville High School.
She married Gerald Kelton Freeze "Jerry" on September 15, 1950, and they shared their lives together for almost sixty years.
Anna worked at the University of Missouri in Columbia while Jerry finished his college education and then was a homemaker, raising three children. After their move to Palmyra, Missouri, she worked at a savings and loan and then for the Laclede County Clerk in Lebanon, Missouri, after their move there in 1973.
When she and Jerry retired, they enjoyed spending the winter months at Lake Okeechobee in Florida, where they met many great friends.
Anna loved cooking and sewing and was a 4-H leader for many years helping the girls with their projects. She was a beautiful quilter and gifted her quilts to many family members.
But, most of all, she was a strong Christian woman who shared her love of the Lord with others and instilled that love into her children. Anna was a member of the Lebanon Church of Christ until her move to Springfield, where she was a member of the Watermill Church of Christ.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; her brothers, Rollo, Ralph, Wayne, Thomas and Bob Melton; one sister, Georgia Lea Divine and their spouses; she lost the love of her life, her husband Jerry, in 2010.
Anna is survived by her three children, Janet "Jo" Baggett (Larry) of Springfield, MO, Jerry Dean Freeze (Kathy) of Wamego, KS and Judy Kay Roberts (Joe) of Murfreesboro, TN; seven grandchildren, Allison Freeze, Eric Freeze (Angela) and David Freeze (Leah), Monica Thompson (Ben), Michael Baggett (Ryan), Chad Roberts and Amy Hillin (Reid); nine great-grandchildren, London and Annabelle Freeze, Emery and Sylvie Freeze, Evangeline and Juliette Thompson, Colbie and Camryn Baggett and Henry Hillin; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials have been suggested to Fair Haven Children's Home (3132 N. Fairhaven Loop, Strafford, MO 65757) or
