David Lee Freeze

David Freeze, age 81, of Manchester, TN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Nashville, TN. He was born on March 8, 1944, in Manchester to Nellie Bell Pendleton and Haskell Freeze. David spent his life rooted in the community he loved and faithfully served.

For 47 years, David served the City of Manchester Fire and Rescue as a Fire Chief and Captain. He took pride in his work and in being there for others, dedicating a lifetime to the community he called home.

After retiring, David enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. He especially loved taking cruises with friends, including his special longtime friend Ellen Vaughn; Louise and Don Miller; Bruce and Alice Rigney-sharing laughter, stories, and memories along the way. He also found comfort in quieter moments, watching wildlife, feeding birds and squirrels, and appreciating the simple beauty of nature.

David had a generous heart and was a devoted supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In keeping with that spirit, donations may be made in his name to St. Jude’s.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie Bell Pendleton and Haskell Freeze; his brothers, Vernon and Leon Freeze; and his son, Michael David Freeze.

David is survived by his children, Christy Freeze and Terry McGowen; and his grandchildren, Michael Freeze and Kyle Freeze.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Central Funeral Home with funeral services following at 1:00pm in the chapel of Central Funeral Home with Jerry Pullum officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma.

David Freeze will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet kindness, and lifelong service to others. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he cherished, and the community he faithfully served.
