Anna Marie Turner Funaro, 89, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025. Anna was born on March 13, 1936 to Charles and Matilda (Marek) Turner. Formerly of New Haven, Hamden and Cheshire, she graduated from Hillhouse HS in 1954. She worked at Winchester Firearms, Olin, Moran Brush and SCSU until her retirement.
Anna was a devoted Mother to Bill Funaro (partner Lisa LaLuna) and Anna Scaramozza (Dave); loving "Nanny" to Melissa Kenniston (Mike), Rachel Funaro (Fiancé Jim), Michael Funaro, Miranda and Ally Scaramozza with 2 bonus grandchildren, Olivia and Gabriella LaLuna. Anna is also survived by her sister, Margaret Fucci and her husband John of Nevada; her sister-in-law, Cindy Turner of Hamden; and many nieces and nephews. She is reunited with her brothers, Charles, Edmund, Eugene, Harold Turner and her sisters, Barbara Kaliszewski and Claudia Shea.
Anna was blessed with many friends from CHV, especially Lorraine Mikolinski, and most recently Masonicare in Wallingford and the Ramage 2 Crew where she had the "Best Roommate Ever" Dorothy Crum. Anna was the best Mom and Nanny to her family; working hard, providing support, love and an ear or shoulder – always with the brightest smile and open arms to everyone she met. She enjoyed the little things in life – singing in the Hamden Choir, puzzles, reading, playing cards, scrabble and bingo, but most of all her sweets.
Anna and Bill would like to thank all the hardworking and dedicated staff at Masonicare, that took such loving care of our beloved Mom and Nanny during her time there, she enjoyed everyone she met – bless you all!
