Anna J. Greco (nee De Muzio) died peacefully on December 1, 2025.
Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Anna graduated from West Side High School in 1942, and shortly thereafter met and fell in love with that boy from Bellville, Domenick Greco. She was his steadfast supporter throughout his station in WWII Europe, became engaged upon his return in 1945 and was married in June 1946. They remained in Newark, and as their family grew, they moved on to Union, Scotch Plains, New Providence, and Berkeley Heights. A company relocation sent them to Tequesta, FL for over a decade, but by 1987, Anna knew it was time to “retire” back to NJ to be near family and friends.
Over the years, Anna worked as a corporate/executive secretary with Lionel Train Corp. (Hillside, NJ), Columbia Middle School (Berkeley Heights, NJ), St. Clare’s Catholic School (N. Palm Beach, FL), and Rosarian Academy (W. Palm Beach, FL), and as the bookkeeper for Immaculata High School (Somerville, NJ) until her true retirement. She was faith-filled and a prayerful woman, and a dedicated member and volunteer in each of her parish communities, most recently with The Church of The Immaculate Conception (Somerville, NJ), as well as with the Vocationist Fathers and Sisters of Newark and Florham Park.
Anna was fiercely independent and strong-willed, sharing of herself wherever she went, with whomever was in need in whatever capacity necessary without reservation, and with compassion, consideration and selflessness – she put the needs of others first, anticipating and offering before asked. She remained faithful throughout her life. Her devotion was a staple in her perseverance in the face of life’s tragedies and a light in the many moments of joy she experienced. She was the matriarch of her family and found joy in creating memories that will remain for generations. Her nephew, Dan, said it well: “Aunt Anna was so very special… no one comes in a close second place to being described that way. She was our second Grandmother and Great Grandmother…. She was our angel, and we will miss her terribly”.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Luigi and Paolina De Muzio (nee Ramella), beloved husband, Domenick, dear sisters, Rose Marie DiMartino, Louise Capozzi, Alma Florence Cotugno, and adored brother, Luigi Jr.
Surviving are her children, Jack Greco and wife Frances, Louis Greco and wife Donna, and Anne Marie Greco, her grandchildren Michael Greco and wife Megan, Adrienne Connelly and husband Denis, and Christine Yager and husband Bruce, and her great-grandchildren Dominic Greco and Samantha Yager.
