Anna Horning Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stradling Funeral Home - Ephrata on Sep. 20, 2023.
Anna W. Horning, 88, of Fairmount Homes, entered into rest on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 10, 1935, in Lancaster County to the late Harvey B. and Lydia B. (Weaver) Eberly. She was married to the late Paul S. Horning, who passed away December 11, 2021. They were married 67 years.
Anna was a member of Indiantown Mennonite Church, Ephrata. In her younger years she taught children's Sunday school, was on the food committee and quilted. She was also involved in the Ephrata Area Young Farmers Association and served many years helping in the food tent at the Ephrata Fair. Anna was employed by Garden Spot Auto Auction for many years. She volunteered at Mennonite Central Committee's Resource Center where she enjoyed quilting with her friends. She loved daily visits by her family, especially Friday nights, which were also enjoyed by many at Fairmount Homes. Despite her recent health challenges, she kept her gentle, grateful spirit, which was an encouragement to others.
She is survived by four children, Paul, husband of Shirley A. (Hershey) Horning of Lititz, Diane M., wife of Ken Haller of Schaefferstown, Lisa D., wife of Kelly Moyer of Ephrata, Pam L., wife of Rick Esh of New Holland; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Elva Martin and a sister-in-law, Ellen Eberly.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Levi, Amos, Mahlon, Alvin, and David Eberly; 2 sisters, Vera Zimmerman and Ruth Hurst.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 5 to 8 PM at Indiantown Mennonite Church, 255 Indiantown Rd, Ephrata. An additional viewing will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023, from 9 to 10 AM, followed by her funeral service at 10 AM, at the church, with Pastor Nelson Zeiset officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Anna's name can be made to Mennonite Central Committee, Material Resources, 517 W. Trout Run Road, Ephrata, PA 17522.
