Mrs. Anna Lee Ruth Mcleod Houchin, 98, of Greenville, passed away February 9, 2026, in Greenville. She was born December 10, 1927, in Blossom, Texas, to Alva Rice and Mollee Lucy Bagley Mcleod. On May 2, 1947, she married J.E. Houchin in Dallas. Together, they retired to the Hunt County area in 1992. Anna enjoyed a quiet, thoughtful life. She loved reading and working crossword puzzles, and she found joy in gardening, studying her Bible, and taking long walks.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 68 years, J.E. Houchin; three children, Jesse, Sherry, and Sandie; two brothers, Rice and Billy Mac; and sister, Sue.
Survivors include her son, Jim Houchin and wife Lana of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Howard Lovelace and wife Nancy of Cedar Hill; two sisters, Frances Armstrong of Sulphur Springs and Dorothy Stallings of Abilene; four grandchildren, Keely, Chris, Brittany, and Loren; six great-grandchildren, Makayla, Raegan, Hayden, Sydney, Claire, and Jordan; and numerous other relatives and friends.
They family will have a memorial service honoring Anna at a later date.
