Anna Mae Kirkpatrick

Mrs. Anna Mae Kirkpatrick McCoy Poe, age 83, a former resident of Belington and more recently of Mansfield Place in Philippi, departed this life Monday morning March 30, 2026 in the nursing facility at Philippi. Death was following a period of declining health.

She was born January 29, 1943, in Elkins, WV, a daughter of the late Luther Coy and Beatrice Eliza Chenoweth Kirkpatrick. She was twice married, 1st to Leslie "Leck" McCoy, who preceded her in death in 1993 and 2nd to Franklin Delano Poe, who preceded her in death in 2015.

She is survived by two stepchildren; David Poe of Moatsville, WV and Dana Sue Hooper of Washington State, one brother; Coy Junior Kirkpatrick of Texas, one sister-in-law; Brenda Kirkpatrick of Elkins, and two step-grandchildren Katie Hooper and Danielle Holt both of Texas. Additional survivors include her loving caretaker and friend; Katherine "Kitty" Haskiel, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one daughter; Misty Dawn McCoy, one sister; Mary Isner, and one brother; John Kirkpatrick.

Anna attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate from the Elkins High School with the class of 1960 and was Protestant by faith. She was formerly employed by the Randolph County Magistrate Office and was previously employed by Smoker Friendly in Philippi. She was the longtime owner and operator of Anna Mae's Pool Room in Belington, where she spent countless hours making sure everything was ran smoothly. She enjoyed serving and talking to all of her patrons that came in to her business to play pool or have a drink. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Per Anna Mae's request, cremation will be honored. A graveside service will be conducted from the Trinity Cemetery near Belington on Tuesday April 7, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dennis D. McCoy Jr. officiating. Interment of her cremains will follow. In lieu of Flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Friends of Barbour County P.O. Box 452 Philippi, WV 26416.
