Anna Marie Leone, "A Life Well Lived"
November 1, 1931 – January 2, 2026
Anna Marie Leone was a proud lifelong resident of Hudson County, NJ. She was born at North Hudson Hospital in Weehawken on November 1, 1931, which was later relocated and rebranded into what is known today as Palisades Medical Center.
Anna Marie graduated from Memorial High School in 1949. Upon graduation, she accepted a position with a bank for two years before accepting a position with the Federal Government as a purchasing agent, a role she held until she selflessly retired to spend quality time with her mother. Professionally, Anna Marie excelled as a purchasing agent for over five decades, training and inspiring generations.
Anna Marie was able to sustain her long career by maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Anna Marie planned regular adventure travel within the US and /or abroad with friends. Her sense of adventure when she travelled was admirable. The gifts that she brought back were thoughtfully selected and beautifully wrapped. On weekends Anna Marie danced the nights away at the iconic Roseland Ballroom; dancing to the Latin beat in the late 50s, and the Twist in the 60's then new dances like the Hustle. She spent summers on the Jersey Shore.
On January 2, 2026, Anna Marie lifted her earthly life and gained her angel wings. She departed this life at Palisades Medical Center due to complications of severe scoliosis. Anna Marie was predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Jennie Leone and cousins, Bessie Lupo (Sal) and Connie Puccio (Charlie). Since Anna Marie was an only child, she developed an enduring and supportive kinship with her other cousins despite geographical proximity. She is survived by including but not limited to her Goddaughter, Annette (Frank)Spano, Charlie (Randi)Puccio, Vincent Puccio, Rose Masseria, Rosalie Masseria and Vincent (Lori) Masseria.
Anna Marie's journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God; she was a devout Catholic. She served as a lector for many years at St. Josephs of the Palisades, WNY. Anna Marie enjoyed celebrating /teaching friends the meaning behind the meal on St. Joseph's Day on Mar. 19. She prided herself by emulating her cousin, Rose's recipe, for the traditional Sicilian Pasta con le Sarde (Pasta with Sardines). The meal was topped off with the traditional Sicilian, St. Joseph's Day, Zeppole di San Giuseppe dessert.
Anna Marie's favorite holiday was Christmas. During that season, she enjoyed baking Italy's diverse holiday traditions such as Ricotta and fig cookies as well as the festive Pignolatta, Sicilian (honey balls). She also enjoyed preparing meals and loved hosting dinner parties for extended family and friends. The meal was topped off with the traditional Sicilian dessert for St. Joseph's Day, Zeppole di San Giuseppe.
