Anthony Vainieri Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vainieri Funeral Home on Jan. 22, 2026.
Anthony P. Vainieri, of Norwood NJ and Boca Raton, Fla. formerly of North Bergen and West New York, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 21, 2026, just shy of his 99th birthday. He was the founder of the Vainieri Funeral Home in North Bergen, where he dedicated himself to serving families with compassion and dignity during their most difficult times. His commitment to helping others extended into his public service as a former North Bergen Commissioner and NJ State Assemblyman.

At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country in World War II as a Pharmacist Mate. In 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, the late Natalie née Agresta, and together they built a lasting legacy in their community. He held numerous leadership roles, including President of the North Bergen Midtown Regular Democratic Club, Past President of the West New York Kiwanis Club, Past President of the North Bergen Moose Club, and Standard Bearer of the Anthony P. Vainieri Ladies Auxiliary.

A man of deep faith, he was a lector-commentator and usher for Our Lady of Libera RC Church in West New York, and a member of the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. In his later years, he became an avid golfer, joining the White Beeches Golf and Country Club and Boca Woods Country Club. Additionally, he was a music lover and an accomplished violinist and pianist, enjoying playing for his family during the holidays. He also delighted in daily crossword puzzles and became a fan of Facebook.

Above all, he was a devoted father to Valerie Vainieri Huttle, Venetia DiMarzo, Vanessa Mooradian, and Anthony P. Vainieri, Jr., and father-in-law to Frank Huttle III, George DiMarzo, and Erich Mooradian. He was a loving grandfather to Danielle and her husband Bob, Alexandra and her husband Matthew, Francesca and her husband Gavin, Erica and her boyfriend Patrick, Anthony III, Antonia, and Sam, and a great-grandfather to Giavanna, Raffaella, Robbie, Jackson, Natalie, and Georgie.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of his beloved wife Natalie Vainieri may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a favorite charity.
