Anna M. Lopez

Anna Mercedes Lopez, age 61, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 27, 1964, in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, and moved to Delaware as a child.
Anna was known for her vibrant spirit and the way she loved people with her whole heart. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, board games, movies, traveling, and spending time at the beach. Her home was always filled with music, food, laughter, and the warmth of someone who found joy in the simplest moments.
Anna proudly served her country for more than 23 years in the United States Army, beginning her service in 1986 as a Pharmacy Specialist. She served in Iraq, Germany, and across the United States, rising to the rank of Sergeant Major and earning numerous honors, including the Legion of Merit. She retired in 2009 as a highly respected Chief Medical NCO.
Following her retirement, Anna continued to serve with the same strength and compassion that defined her military career. She dedicated herself to supporting veterans and gave her time generously to organizations that uplifted and advocated for the veteran community, including the Army Wounded Warrior Program, DelVets Post 2 Board, the Delaware Veterans Commission, the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs, and the Dover Stand Down Board.
Anna leaves behind her two children, Alicia Mercedez Fox and Juan Clemente Quinones-Lopez; her mother, Monserrate Lopez; and her siblings Robert Lopez, Lilliam Lopez, Ivette Jusino, Marilyn Lopez, and Nancy Lopez. She is preceded in death by her father, Clemente Lopez, and her brothers, Luis Lopez and Angel Oscar Lopez.
Her legacy of strength, service, compassion, and joy will be carried forward by her family, her friends, and the many veterans whose lives were changed through her tireless advocacy.
