Anna "Ann" Marie (Quinn) Malloy, 93, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois, surrounded by her loving daughters.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ann lived a full, vibrant, and adventurous life defined by kindness, courage, independence, and grace.
Known affectionately as "Muom," she is survived by her four devoted daughters, Christine (Anthony) DiNizo, Lauren (Jeff Toth) Malloy, Shelly (Kevin) Cox, and Kerra (Dave Puskavich) Penn; her cherished granddaughter, Charlotte Cox; and her brother, Arthur (Betty) Quinn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Arthur Quinn, and her sisters, Margaret (Joe) Detig and Betty (Lee) Hartman.
Before marriage, Ann pursued a career with the Pennsylvania Railroad-enabling her to travel, live independently, and enjoy the dance halls of her day. Her final position there, in Human Resources, was one she truly loved. She embraced marriage and motherhood at 28, raising four daughters while also helping her husband launch his private investigation business, Malloy & Associates.
An inspiration to her daughters, Ann was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, curiosity, self-reliance, and a lifelong love of learning. A firm believer in the power of education, she moved the family to Mt. Lebanon School District, knowing it would provide the children with a strong foundation for their future pursuits.
After raising her children, Ann fulfilled a lifelong dream to go to college by earning an associate degree in computer science in her mid-fifties. She also studied interior decorating, a talent admired by all who entered her home.
Ann's greatest joy, however, was living life alongside her daughters. She often moved to where they were living, joining them in their adventures, including coastal cities in New Jersey and Florida and a stint overseas when three of her daughters moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. By the early 2000s, she had settled in Chicago, where she especially delighted in her new role as "Grandma Ann."
More than anything, Ann was known for her kindness and compassion. She was always there for her children with unwavering love, loyalty, encouragement, and support-and spoke to each of them daily. She was a great listener, genuinely interested in the lives of others, and a joy to be around. Known and adored by a wide circle of her daughters' extended friends and families, she will be deeply missed by many.
Our beautiful, cherished "Muom" was sustained by her deep and abiding faith until the end of her life. She lived honorably and truly embodied the fruits of the Spirit-love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22–23). Her legacy will live on through all who knew and loved her.
Private memorial services to be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to The American Macular Degeneration Foundation https://www.macular.org
