Anna Marie Alva - Lopez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castle Ridge Mortuary - West Military Dr. on Dec. 4, 2025.
Anna Marie Alva-Lopez passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 16, 1947, Anna Marie's journey began in the very same city where she would leave an indelible mark through her kindness, generosity, and loving spirit.
Raised in the warmth of San Antonio's abundant culture, Anna Marie flourished, growing up in a close-knit family alongside her parents, Emil and Beatrice Cruz, and brothers Joseph and Johnny Cruz, all of whom preceded her in death. Carrying the values instilled in her by her family, she touched many lives during her remarkable 78 years.
Anna Marie was the beloved spouse of Marco Lopez for 38 years, a partnership that was a bastion of true love and mutual respect. Their life together was a testament to unwavering commitment and devotion. She was a loving mother to her children Christopher (Juanita) Alva, Marco A. Lopez Jr, and Jason (Erika) Lopez. Her nurturing warmth shone through in her interactions with her cherished grandchildren Cristian, Lysette, Anai, Jared, Mariana, and Jason Jr, who will miss her dearly.
Her siblings, Linda and Emil, survive her as a testament to the family's enduring bond, carrying forward the memories of their shared childhoods and their sister's enduring legacy of love and kindness.
Anna Marie's education at South San High School was just the start of a life dedicated to service. As a dedicated civil servant, she committed herself to the welfare of her community, believing strongly in the power of empathy and assistance in public service. Her Christian faith was the backbone of her existence, a guiding light that led her through life's many chapters.
Anna Marie had an unbounded love for her family, and her ability to give from the heart made her the centerpiece of family gatherings. Her culinary prowess brought everyone together, especially during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Her homemade mole, rice, beans, and the famous potato salad were more than just meals; they were a language of love that her children eagerly anticipated and savored.
Her grandchildren will fondly remember the time spent in their grandmother's cozy kitchen, baking cookies and absorbing the sweet scents of happiness. Anna Marie's guidance, often dispensed during these intimate moments, will resonate with her children and grandchildren for years to come. Her three sons in particular knew the depth of their mother's affection, as she instilled in them values of integrity and compassion.
Loving, kind, and generous-words that encapsulate the essence of Anna Marie. The holidays, a special time for her family, were imbued with her spirit of togetherness and celebration. These traditions will carry on in her memory, a tribute to the matriarch who made every occasion a cherished memory.
As we bid farewell to Anna Marie Alva-Lopez, we are reminded of the beauty of a life well-lived and the impact one person's love can have on a world in need of tenderness. Her legacy of giving and big-hearted love will continue through those who knew her, loved her, and were touched by her extraordinary existence.
