Constance L. Porter, affectionately known as Connie to her friends and family, passed into the arms of her Lord on November 26, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on September 23, 1949, in
Xenia, Ohio, Connie's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the love she carried for her family and friends. She passed away peacefully of natural causes in
San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
Connie's journey through life was marked by her dedication to her family and her strong Christian faith. She was a beacon of love and strength, always putting the needs of others before her own. Connie's mother, Norma Odom, instilled in her the values of kindness and compassion, which she carried throughout her life. Her father's memory was a guiding star for her, and she often shared stories of her childhood in Xenia with her children and grandchildren.
A devoted mother, Connie is survived by her three sons, Scott Porter Sr. (Roxane Porter), Brian Porter (Elaine Perales), and Gannon Porter. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Scott Porter Jr., Shawn Carmona, Citrine Porter, Chloie Porter, and Caleb Porter, who will always remember her as a pillar of support and unconditional love. Connie also leaves behind her beloved sisters, Joann Daniels, Carol Mustin Brooks, Linda Odom, Regina Wellman, Nina Green, and Rita Philips Yancey, and her brother, Delmar Jay Odom. Each family member was a cherished part of her life, and she was a cornerstone in theirs.
Connie's academic pursuits led her to achieve an Associate's degree in Business, which she utilized in various capacities throughout her life. However, her most cherished role was that of a military housewife, supporting her family through the unique challenges that come with military life. Her unwavering support and resilience were the bedrock upon which her family thrived.
In addition to her family roles, Connie was a passionate biblical author who penned two novels while sharing her faith and wisdom through written word. Her works were an inspiration to many and will continue to guide those who seek comfort and understanding through scripture.
Connie's love for the Lord was evident in all aspects of her life. She found joy in reading her Bible daily, a practice that nourished her soul and kept her grounded in her faith. Her interests extended to joyful gatherings with friends over a game of Bonco cards and listening to the soulful rhythms of 60's Motown music. Connie's laughter and joy were infectious at such gatherings, leaving a warm and lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of her company.
She also cherished the moments spent dining out with family and friends, where conversations were filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. These simple pleasures were the threads that wove the rich tapestry of Connie's life.
As we reflect on the life of Constance L. Porter, we are reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7). Connie indeed fought the good fight, finished her race with grace, and kept the faith until her final breath.
We take comfort in knowing that Connie's story does not end with her passing, as her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her memory will be a guiding light, a reminder of the power of faith, and the enduring strength of family bonds. Connie will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire and comfort us all.
