Anna McJunkin Obituary

Beth McJunkin left her body January 31, 2026, two days before her 52nd wedding anniversary. Beth was born 75 years ago in San Antonio, Texas, to Bob and Sue Delph. She studied art at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, and in 1973 met Jim McJunkin in Austin. They quickly realized they were soul mates, and married in 1974. Beth worked as a secretary for AT&T for 20 years, and in her off hours played on a co-recreational softball team with her husband, filled her house and yard with plants and flowers and vegetables from her garden, and spent a good deal of quality time with her dogs.

Beth and her husband traveled when finances and time allowed it, beginning with camping trips around Texas. West Texas and the Big Bend area was a favorite destination, along with Colorado, New Mexico and Canada. Mexico, Honduras, and Belize were exciting excursions. Machu Pichu, Peru, Europe, and Newfoundland were favorites.

When Beth and Jim retired, they moved to Wimberley and built their dream home. Beth's artistic and design inclinations turned it into a functional work of art. She became involved in the Wimberley art scene, scheduling transportation and driving Art Fest visitors from their cars to the festival site. She was a member of the Wimberley Valley Art League, and part of the hanging crew, making sure each Community Center Art Show was a success.

Beth was introduced to Christianity, and grew up with Methodist teachings, but evolved into a more animistic sense of spirituality. Christianity provided the basis for her sense of right and wrong. Nature was her church.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Frank and David Delph. She is survived by her husband Jim McJunkin, her sister, Suzanne Gordon, her nephew, Greg Gordon, and her niece and true friend, Lindsay Gordon. She is survived by her nephews Jason and Justin Scalise on her husband's side of the family.

There are no funeral services, but friends and family are invited to stop by her home for an informal, neighborly reception. The open house will be Tuesday, February 17, from 2-4 in the afternoon, at 32 Canyon Creek Dr. in Woodcreek.
