Anna L. Mercier

Anna L. Mercier, of Cadillac and formerly of the Flint area, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Green Acres Living Center in Cadillac surrounded by her family. She was 98.
Anna was born on August 10, 1926 to John and Anna Kallas in Casco Township, Michigan. On November 2, 1946 she entered into marriage with James Louis Mercier at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Flint. The couple spent 62 years together until his time of passing on July 23, 2008. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. In her spare time, she could often be found quilting, working on jig saw puzzles, or playing bingo. She looked forward to going on casino trips with her friends and family. Anna enjoyed spending time with her special friends at Green Acres. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing on bowling leagues. She loved being outdoors and would often go on fishing trips with her husband on the lake. Anna and Jim enjoyed traveling many winters in their motor home to Florida and Arizona. She was a member of the Red Hat Club and loved getting dressed up and wearing colorful and stylish clothes and jewelry, especially if it had her favorite color purple on it. Anna looked forward to walking the Mackinac Bridge every year for countless years. She will be remembered for being an independent, but social and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Anna is survived by her loving children, John and Donna Mercier of Holly, Michael and Sheryl Mercier of Charleston, TN, Randy and Marie Mercier of Tustin, Lori and Thom Mattingly of Grand Rapids; five grandchildren, Jeremiah and Phoebe, Sarah Joy, Emily and Garrison, Janice and Kevin, Kaeleigh; great-grandchildren, Andre, Luc, Darcy, Alexandria, Grady, Genevive, and Alexandra; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; son, Jeffrey; parents, John and Anna; brother, George Kallas.
The family would like to thank Green Acres for the tender loving care over the last seven years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will take place next to her husband, James at Hobart Cemetery.
