Anna Navatsyk entered eternity into the presence of the Lord on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the age of 93. Anna was known for her hospitality, her loyalty, her intelligence, her quick wit, her cinnamon rolls, and her love for life. Anna was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on December 26, 1931, as the second child and oldest daughter of Thomas and Julia (nee: Theys) Phillips.
On June 10, 1951, Anna married her high school sweetheart, Don Navatsyk. Anna spent the next 49 years building a life with Don until his death on November 20, 2000. First and foremost, Anna was always a dedicated wife, an adept homemaker, and a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother. In her mid-40's she began a banking career which lasted more than 20 years at Security Federal Savings and Loan.
Every Sunday afternoon for over two decades, Anna hosted dinners for her very large family (and whoever her very large family decided to bring with them). The atmosphere at these meals was always filled with loud noise, loud laughter, and, most of all, loud love.
Anna is survived by her "baby" sister, Beverly Lesko and her husband, Tony. She is also survived by her son, Donald Navatsyk and his wife Nancy, nee: Tippit; her daughter, Cheryl Kumher and her husband, Don; her daughter, Diane Tvergyak and her husband, Dan; and her daughter, Jill Ziegler and her husband, Dean. This list of surviving children would be incomplete without also including her niece and "daughter," Pam Hoover, nee: Walters, and her husband, Larry.
Anna was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Julia, her adoring husband, Don and her brother, Harvey Phillips and his wife, Lois, nee: Henderson; her sister and best friend, Ellen Wadsworth and her husband, Ralph; her sister, Judy Woznick and her husband, Ron; her brother, Thomas Phillips; her son, Bradley Navatsyk; her grandson, Stephen Navatsyk; and her great grandsons, Stephen Meerman and Finneas O'Neill.
Anna lived a long, rich, satisfying life which enabled her to have a tremendous impact on the lives of her 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Samaritan's Purse located at 801 Bamboo Road, Boone, NC 28607 or Hambden Congregational Church, located at 13840 GAR Highway, Chardon, Ohio 44024 would certainly make Anna smile.
Visitation for friends and family for Anna will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, Ohio. A celebration service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Hambden Congregational Church, followed by a meal. Arrangements are entrusted to Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.burrservice.com.
