Mary Ann Duncan, age 77, of Chardon Township, a lifelong resident of Geauga County, peacefully passed away on October 11, 2025. She was born to Robert and Doris (nee: Cuckow) Hooberry in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mary was the beloved wife of Charles K. Duncan, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. They were married on July 12, 1969, and together built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and the simple joy of being together.
A graduate of Cardinal High School, Mary went on to attend Willoughby–Eastlake School of Practical Nursing, proudly becoming an LPN. She spent her career caring for others with the same gentle and compassionate spirit that defined her. After retiring from nursing, she worked as the office manager alongside Charles in their public accounting practice and later became an insurance agent, continuing her lifelong commitment to helping people.
Mary grew up in her parent's nursing home business, where kindness and care were part of everyday life. Those values shaped who she was - a gentle soul, a peacemaker, and a steady, loving presence to everyone around her. She had a warm smile, a calming nature, and a heart that always put others first.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She adored her granddaughters Elizabeth, Victoria, and Isabella, and treasured every moment spent with them. Whether she was baking her famous apple pie, hosting holiday dinners or just simply spending time with her family. Mary created a home where love was felt in every corner.
Mary's faith in God was the foundation of her life. She loved Benny Hinn Ministries and was a passionate prayer warrior, faithfully lifting others up in prayer and finding strength in her relationship with the Lord.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles K. Duncan; her son, Charles "Chuck" Duncan of Florida; her daughter, April Duncan of Chardon; and her beloved granddaughters, Victoria, Elizabeth and Isabella. She was preceded in death by her parents, her cherished daughter Laurie, her sister Katherine Kolesar, and her brother Allen Hooberry.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment at Huntsburg Township Cemetery in Huntsburg.
Arrangements are entrusted to Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.burrservice.com.
Mary will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her kind and gentle spirit, and the boundless love she poured into her family. Her legacy will live on in the hearts she touched and the family she so dearly loved.
