Anna O. Palaia

Anna Olga Addino Palaia, aged 85, residing in Sparkill, New York passed away on September 4, 2022, from natural causes.
Anna, daughter of Saverio and Caterina Addino, was born on April 7, 1937, grew up in Sant'Andrea Apostolo dello Ionio, Calabria, Italy. On July 30, 1958, she married the late Gerardo Palaia and together, they had four beautiful children.Anna lived an incredible life filled with adventure, joy, and love. She was the first of her family to emigrate from Italy to the United States. She was a mentor to many in her home country as well as to those she helped acclimate to the United States. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a great confidant to her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Anna worked for nearly eight decades as a gifted seamstress that aided so many by providing them with the perfect outfit for their life's most important events. She was an active member of the St. John the Baptist Church community where she sang in the choir and volunteered as a eucharistic minister. She lived her life guided by her strong faith that she shared with so many. She was strong, honest, compassionate, funny, and kind-hearted. She was blessed by the Lord with a wonderful life and she chose to spend her life sharing her blessings with others.
Her memory and life are survived by her children Frank Palaia, Maria Palaia Arias, Saverio Palaia, and Catherine Palaia Caltagirone; her son and daughter-in-law Giuseppe Caltagirone and Aramilda Diaz; grandchildren AnnaMaria (Ryan) Denley, Jeanette (Javier) Rivera, Andre Arias, Gerardo Caltagirone, Gabriella Caltagirone, Giovanni Caltagirone, and Sherly Romero Diaz, and her great-grandchildren Lucianna, Alessandra, Owen, and Annalina. She is also survived by her siblings Bruno (Cheryl) Addino, Vittoria (Joe) Colella, Maria Marzo, Andrea (Giuliana) Addino and several nieces and nephews. Anna is predeceased by her parents, her husband, son-in-law Oscar Arias, daughter in-law Frances Michie Palaia, nephew Anthony Addino and brother-in-law Aldo Marzo.
