Anna Rose Peduto (nee Cacciapaglia) of
Norristown, Pa passed away peacefully at the age of 96. Born September 27, 1927 to the late Frank and Mariana (nee Terlizzi) Cacciapaglia, Rose was the beloved wife for 61 years of the late Edward Peduto, Sr.; loving mother of Edward F., Jr. (Renee), Robert M. (Tanya), Steven C. (Sandrah Moles), Thomas (Tammy Phillips); cherished grandmother of Chad, Trinley, Tom, Jr., Amy & Stephen; and proud great-grandmother of Chase, Eddie, Connor, and Curtis; and dear sister of Virginia (nee Cacciapaglia) Martin.
Rose, as a person, can be described as religious; loving; caring; selfless, protective; life loving; nurturing; outgoing; curious; ready-to-serve; kind and the list of attributes goes on that describes a person who loved everyone and all of God's creatures. Born and raised by loving parents that immigrated to this country during harsh times, Rose grew up in a world of working hard just to survive, challenges from local prejudices while at the same time the love from within the family circle provided her with comfort and a positive outlook on life.
Rose had a persevering side to her that allowed her to follow her desire (some say calling) to go to college and become a teacher. Back in the day, Italian women did not go to college as her brothers did. She persevered and after several years prevailed by receiving her degree in English and securing her first position as an elementary schoolteacher. Her first teaching job was located ten miles away in a neighboring town and she hitched a ride on a mail truck each way as her family did not own a car.
After several years of teaching, her calling was placed on hold as she married Edward, Sr and they reared and raised four boys that she has always cherished. Once the three oldest were able to attend school on their own, Rose returned to teaching elementary school at Saint Adelberts, a Catholic School outside of Cleveland in the mid-1960s and the next 30 years at Saint Titus in West Norriton, PA. She loved teaching third grade as she always said that children that age want to learn and adore adults that give them positive attention.
When Rose retired, she continued as a substitute teacher at Saint Titus, traveled with her husband until his passing and did things that involved family and friends. She was always active, worked out religiously several times a week at a health club and was active in several senior groups. Rose loved life and loved people and kept up her pursuit of happiness and finding good in the world until her very last days.
One closing thought is when she made others happy, she was happy. What more can you say about a person who touched the lives of so many.
Relatives and friends are invited to share with her family a Celebration of Rose's Life on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Visitation BVM Church, 190 Trooper Rd,
Norristown, Pa 19403. Her family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 at Visitation followed by a funeral mass at 11:00. Entombment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
Rose's family invites all relatives and friends to a gathering and luncheon to be announced following entombment.
