John Peduto Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. John's Family Funeral Home & Crematory on Jun. 15, 2025.
John Carmine Peduto, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 9, 2025, at his residence in St Augustine, FL. He was 78 years old.
John was born in Staunton, Virginia, to Carmelino Jeremiah Peduto and Nora Charlotte Webb. A gifted student and athlete, John excelled at Robert E. Lee High School, where he was a standout on the football field and track team. His academic and athletic promise led him to the United States Military Academy at West Point where he graduated Class of 1968.
After West Point, John was a Ranger with the 101st Airborne Division until 1975.
Following his military service, John pursued a career in science and medicine. He earned a degree in Biology from Augusta College and went on to receive a Ph.D. in Reproductive Endocrinology from the Medical College of Georgia.
John was a dedicated pro-life advocate, a man of deep convictions and unwavering faith. In 2012 John returned to Virginia with his wife Barbara, where he was actively involved in church ministries at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton Va.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Peduto; his children, Amy Peduto of St. Augustine, FL, Dawn Schneider (David) of St. Augustine, FL, and Drew Alan Peduto (Sonia) of Phoenix, AZ; his cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Everly Schneider; his sisters, Teresa Peduto and Tanya Peduto (Paul) and their children and both of Staunton, VA; and his brother, Joseph Peduto (Dee) and their children of Staunton, VA.
John's life was marked by service-to his country, his family, his faith, and the truth he held dear. He will be remembered for his courage, intellect, devotion, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His legacy will continue to live on through the family he loved and the many lives he touched.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 9AM on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. A committal service and interment will follow at San Lorenzo Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Liturgical Sacramental Fund at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 118 North New Street, Staunton, VA 23401
