Anna Maria Rinaldi
"Beloved sister, aunt & friend"
Today at the age of 81, Anna Maria Rinaldi of Macauley Ave., Waterbury, left this mortal existence to a holier sphere. Anna was born April 13, 1943 to wonderful parents, Angelo/Ida (Ferri) Rinaldi who taught her to live life well. Anna graduated from the American School for the Deaf (ASD), West Hartford, pursued her BA at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC, MA at California State University Northridge (CSUN).
From there, Anna began her teaching career in a day school for the Deaf (closed) in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY; American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, Mark Keppel School in Northridge, CA; Interpreter Training Program (ITP/IPP), Seattle, WA; Portland Community College, Portland, OR; Principal at the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf, Decatur, GA; taught at Peachtree Perimeter Community College, Decatur, GA; North Carolina School for the Deaf, Morganton/Raleigh, NC; South Carolina School for the Deaf, Spartanburg, SC; and the final place with Northwestern Connecticut Community College, Winsted as an assistant professor until her retirement in June 2009. Anna was also a certified deaf interpreter for many years until her retirement in 2023.
Anna leaves behind her brother, Michael Rinaldi, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Anna is predeceased by her brother, Joseph, her parents, and sister-in-law, Donna Marcil.
Anna was very active in Deaf organizations and held several offices in those states as well in CT. Also, Anna assisted in implementation of guidelines for communicating with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals in healthcare settings. Acted as a liaison to 32 acute hospitals in the state of CT; involved in deaf community theatres: Stage Hands, Atlanta, GA; Northwest Theatre, Seattle, WA; Sound Off Theater, CT.
Arrangements: A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Entombment will follow at Calvary Garden Mausoleum in Waterbury. Calling hours will be held Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service commences at 11:00 a.m. Anna 's renowned for her unique pins, if one is attending the wake/funeral, please wear a pin in honor of Anna.
