Virginia M. (Fennelly) Saunders, 81, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the Village at East Farms with her family by her side.
Virginia was born in Waterbury, CT on September 30, 1944, a daughter of the late William and Dora (Brooks) Fennelly. She was a graduate of Crosby High School. Before her retirement, Virginia worked as the assistant director of early childhood education for Easter Seals in Waterbury for 20 years. Prior to Easter Seals, she worked in quality control for IGC Advanced Superconductor for over 10 years. She loved being outdoors by the water and she was a very gifted artist.
Virginia is survived by her son, Raymond Saunders of Berlin, CT, grandchildren, Samantha, Dakota, Jessica and Jason Saunders and great-granddaughter, Juniper Cabon. She also leaves her brother, Raymond Fennelly and his wife, Carmeline of Port St. Lucie, FL, sisters, Kathleen Bly and her husband, Arden of Waterbury, CT, Roberta Richards and her husband, Joe of Port St. Lucie, FL, Irene Dick and her husband, Vincent of Morris, CT and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Jason Saunders, brother, William Fennelly and sister, Geraldine Daddona.
Arrangements : Calling hours for Virginia will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 5 :00 to 7 :00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT. A memorial service will be celebrated on Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
