Mrs. Anna Mae "Ann" Sapp died peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born on October 18, 1932, on the family farm outside Neponset, IL to George and Ethel Harvey, the third of four children. As a child she attended Miller School and graduated from Neponset High School in 1950. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1953 where she obtained her degree as an RN. Ann married Wayne W. Ensley on September 25,1953, they moved to Portsmouth, VA while Wayne was serving in the United States Navy. Their first son, Wayne, J. "Skip" was born.

They returned to Illinois in late 1954 and settled in the Peoria area. This is where two more sons, Barry and Jim were born. This was followed by several years in Kewanee before moving to Las Vegas, NV in the mid 1970s. In the early 1980s they returned to Kewanee.

Ann married Danny M. Sapp in 1990. Ann worked as an RN from the time of nursing school graduation until her retirement at the age of 80. Her nursing career spanned 60 years as an RN in both hospitals and nursing homes and was a focus of her life wherever she lived. She was a generous and loving woman who was small in stature but who had a huge heart, always ready to help others. To the police, firemen, and first responders in Kewanee, following her retirement, she was known as "The Cookie Lady" baking a steady supply of cookies, brownies and other treats. When she no longer could drive, they would come to the house to pick them up and visit with her.

Ann was an animal lover all her life and always had one, two or more pets. She was a very generous supporter of the Henry County Humane Society and cared for countless cats and kittens at her home. Her family is thankful that a sick elephant never came down the road as she would have taken it in without hesitation.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Warren (Ruth) Harvey; one sister, Eloise (Bill) Currier; son, Barry Lee Ensley; and her husbands, Wayne W. Ensley and Daniel M. Sapp. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Skip (Kathy) Ensley, Jim (Michelle) Ensley; one sister, Verna (Tony) Codo; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the funeral home. Elder William Currier will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Henry County Humane Society. Online condolences may be left for Ann's family at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com.

Anna Mae was a special woman. I had the privilege of knowing her when she came to Springfield to visit her family here. She never came empty handed, she always had baked treats. My favorite memory was of her when she taught my daughter how to hula hoop in the middle of the living room at over 60 years of age. She will be Greatly Missed. Chip and family you are in our thoughts and prayers.
