WATERBURY – With profound sadness, the family of Anna Serrano, age 70, announces her peaceful passing at home on Tuesday, March 11, 2025,surrounded by the love of her family.

Anna was born on December 8, 1954, in Philadelphia, PA, and spent her early years in Puerto Rico, where she married and started her family. Eventually, she moved to Connecticut, where she built a loving home and settled close to her children and grandchildren, creating a life filled with warmth, laughter, and togetherness.

Anna’s life was marked by her overwhelming love for her family and community, and she inspired many with her deep devotion to her loved ones, passion for life, and joyful spirit. She was happiest in the kitchen, where her arroz con gandules y pernil and potato salad became the heart of countless family gatherings. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her laughter always present. She loved watching movies, sharing stories, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her great-grandchildren affectionately called her “Gigi”, a name they couldn’t say without smiling—a reflection of the love and warmth she brought into their lives.

Anna’s kindness, strength, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind her children: Luis Ortiz, Eduardo Ortiz, Jessica Ortiz, Stephanie Serrano, and Jessica Serrano; her 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 siblings, along with countless extended family members and dear friends who were blessed to know her.

Relatives and friends may visit with Anna’s family on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705.
