Anna Rose (DeMichele) Smith July 31, 1939 - February 04, 2026
Born in
Brooklyn, NY, to Frank and Pasqualina (DePinto), DeMichele and resided in
Feeding Hills, MA, since 1941.
Anna was a graduate of Agawam High School class of 1958. Over the years, she worked as a teletype operator and then as a varitype operator, creating newspaper columns for high school newspapers as well as Playbill for the Storrowton Tent and Stage West In the mid 1970s, Anna learned to drive school buses and drove for 40 years, bringing generations of Agawam students to school.
In 1959, she met the love of her life, Neil Smith, when he was home from Paris Island SC. They married June 24,1961, and shortly after bought a home in Feeding Hills. Prior to Neil passing in 2021, they celebrated their 60th anniversary. That celebration carried her these past 5 years.
She is survived by her daughter Patty Souder and her husband Bill (she loved her Billy). Her grandchildren Emma Souder, Ian and Julia Souder, and Justin Romaska. She loved each of them in a very special way and was proud that they were hers. In the past 5 years, she fell in love with her sweet companion dog, Victoria. I would also want to thank Sharon and Kenny Konstantinidis, Missy, and Craig Romaska and Michelle and Marc Winer, each of these people treated Anna as if she was their own mom, and she loved each of them so very much.
So many people helped her these years, especially Shaunda, Vicky, Andrea, Ada, Lilliana, Springfield Senior Services (Ali), and Baystate hospice.
Bill and I are thankful to every individual who assisted us in her care.
