Anna K. Strimel, 93
Cheswold – Anna K. Strimel passed away on April 13, 2025 from complications of a stroke surrounded by her family at home.
Anna was born and raised on a farm near Kenton on January 6, 1932, to Walter and Clara Knotts. Anna went to the Kenton School and then onto Smyrna School. After graduating from Smyrna High School in 1951, Anna went to work at E.I. DuPont Co. in Wilmington.
In 1952, she married Jack Strimel and began working at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna. In 1954, she and Jack started raising their family of one son, Cliff, and two daughters, Cathy and Cindy. When the last child went off to college in 1985, Anna returned to the workforce at Delaware Technical and Community College (Terry Campus) part-time as a Library Technician. In 1998 she started a new career, as babysitter for her grandson, Sean.
Anna was very active. She always loved all kinds of dancing including the Jitter Bug, Waltzing, the Paul Jones, and of course line dancing. She was a member of The Steppin' Seniors and performed at the Modern Maturity Center, parades, assisted living facilities, schools, nursing homes and other community functions. She was a volunteer for RSVP. She was a member of the Leipsic Homemakers and had been active in the Cheswold Methodist Church since her childhood. She served on the Town of Cheswold Town Council following in her husband's footsteps.
She also enjoyed traveling, swimming, reading, crocheting, playing cards, especially Skip-Bo. She loved working in her yard and making everything look perfect.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her son, Cliff, her daughter, Cathy Woodhouse, her granddaughter, Erin Reed, her son-in-law, Joe Saxton, a sister, Mildred Brittingham, and brothers, William, George, James, Ernest, and Frank Knotts.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Cindy Saxton, her grandson, Sean Saxton, her brother, Ralph Knotts (MaryEllen), her fiancé, Jack Egolf and her "adopted daughter", Janice Lambertson Green. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces and many other family members and dear friends.
