Anna B. Upton Turner, 84, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with an autoimmune disease and COPD at 9:04 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Anna was living at the Silver Palms Assisted Living in Mt Pleasant, Iowa and was under hospice care.
Anna was born March 22, 1941, at Henry County Memorial Hospital, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of Donald C. and E. June (Hayward) Upton. She graduated from Salem High School in 1959, as the last student to receive a diploma from that high school. She played basketball as a guard and lettered all four years of high school. Anna attended Cedar Creek Friends Church where she shared many childhood memories. After she graduated, she was employed at Champion Spark Plug in Burlington, Iowa. She was then a homemaker for a few years before taking employment with Heatilator in Mount Pleasant Iowa. She was a dedicated employee for 34 years before retiring. Anna was a devoted mother of four beautiful children, Brenda, Duane, Paula and Dusty. They were raised with unconditional love. She would have sacrificed everything for them. She sent a message to each one in the morning to start their day. Her last thoughts of the day were of them and she sent each a good night message before she went to bed. Anna was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes was her idol. She also was a Caitlin Clark fan and watched the Indiana fever faithfully.
Surviving are four children Brenda (Dan) McCabe, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Duane (Amy) Brown Little Chute, Wisconsin, Paula (David) James, Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, and Dusty Turner, North Liberty, Iowa, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sisters, Sara J. Weschler and Linda J. Stith, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and two sisters-in-law, Donna and Caroline, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Donald, C. Upton and June and George Helm, brothers, John, Jim, Glenn and Harold and infant sister Elizabeth. Sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Adeline, brother-in-law, Terry Stith, three nephews and many aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Olson-Powell Chapel & Crematory in Mount Pleasant. A private family graveside service will be held in the Richwoods Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for EveryStep Hospice and All God’s Creatures. The Olson-Powell Chapel and Crematory is caring for Anna and her family.
