Anna B. Uhl, 84, of East Greenville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2023. She was the wife of the late William K. Uhl. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Erma (Vandegrift) Rennich. She is survived by her son, William M. Uhl and his companion, Diane Griffin of Fleetwood; her daughters: Joanne Ovens and her husband William of Croydon, and Deborah Finn and her husband, Lawrence of East Greenville. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kyle, Amber, Sean, Ryan, Terry, Anna, Cody, and Benjamin; her great grandchildren: Edward Jr., Alexander, Isabella, Levon, Emilia, and Lola; and her siblings: Marie, widow of Harold Alexander, John, widower of Mary Rennich.
She was a 1956 graduate of St. Hubert's Catholic School for Girls in Philadelphia. Anna was the Field Human Resource Officer III (Personnel Director) for S.C.I. Graterford, where she worked for 36 years. Anna was also an expert marksman and a former member of the S.C.I. Graterford Pistol Team. She was a member of the Upper Perkiomen Jaycees and of Saint Philip Neri Church in Pennsburg.
Laryngeal cancer changed Anna's life when she was 47 years old. She became an advocate for others who suffered and survived that terrible disease. Anna was a member of the Speakeezy Club of Delaware Valley, Voice Master and WebWhispers. She was a member of the International Association of Laryngectomees (IAL) and attended many of their annual conferences. Laryngeal cancer is rare; Anna was in many ways a mentor to health care professionals unfamiliar with the specific needs of a patient whose larynx was removed and who received large doses of radiation treatment following surgery.
She was an avid traveler and enjoyed many trips with family and friends. She vacationed all over the world, often with her brother-in-law Harold and always with her sister, Marie.
All are invited to gather with her family on Tuesday, April 18, from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road., Pennsburg, PA 18073. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Mark's Cemetery in Pennsburg immediately following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, cancer.org; or the Montgomery County SPCA in Perkiomenville, montgomerycountyspca.org. Visit her "Book of Memories" at falkfuneralhomes.com.
