Anna Marie Viens
Anna Marie Viens, 43, of Morton, IL, and Ellington, CT, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Annie was born on December 3, 1982, to Steven and Dorothy (Mangold) Viens of Ellington, CT.
She attended special education programs throughout eastern Connecticut, often part of EastConn or CREC programs. At the age of twelve, a program was created for her at the Ellington Middle School, where she attended for the rest of her school life. Anna loved nature and enjoyed many camping trips with her family, visiting several National Parks and enjoying the feeling of the sun on her face.
Anna moved to Timber Ridge, a facility of Apostolic Christian LifePoints in Morton, Illinois, in July 2001, and resided there until her death. Though this move was very difficult for her family, it proved to be the right move for her and she thrived there.
In addition to her parents, Anna is survived by her sister, Rebekah Viens and her husband, Michael "Kavon" Gager, and their four children, Ezra, Evelyn, Michaela and Michael, all of Ellington, CT; and her paternal grandmother, Madge McNair of Ellington, CT. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Clarence and Martha Mangold. Her extended family includes many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Anna was very well loved and cared for by the staff at Apostolic Christian Timber Ridge, for whom her family has a deep gratitude. Though Anna was never verbal, she made a very big impact on all those who knew and loved her. Her smile spoke volumes.
A time of visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 4-7:30 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church of Ellington, 34 Middle Butcher Road, Ellington, CT. Her funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 13, beginning at 10:15 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery, Ellington, CT. Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, in Vernon, CT, are in care of her arrangements.
