Anna Weiland Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Patrick T Lanigan Funeral Home - East Pittsburgh on Feb. 16, 2022.
Of Turtle Creek, age 86, died on Monday, February 14, 2022.
Beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Weiland, who died in their 8th year of marriage.
Loving mother of Deborah (Robert) Kuntz of Penn Hills, Rebecca "Becky" (Tom) Duxbury of North Versailles, Danette (Jeffrey) Wargo of TN and Daniel Weiland of Turtle Creek.
Precious grandmother of Robert (Sara) Kuntz and Joseph (Nicole) Kuntz; Thomas (Mandy) Duxbury and Elizabeth (Brandon) Roberts; Jessica (Bryant) Kroll and Jeffrey Wargo.
Anna was anticipating the June birth of her first great-grandchild who will be named Bailey Ann.
Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, Louis and Samuel Matkowski, her sisters, Frances (Perry, "Pep") Payne and Louise (Harry) Nichols, other step and half brothers and sisters along with numerous nieces and nephews.
As a young girl, Ann was hired as a secretary at Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh. Upon her marriage to Tom, she became a stay-at-home mother of 4. After Tom's untimely death after 8 years, Ann struggled to raise her 4 young children but was buoyed by the love and support of her wonderful family. When the children were older, Ann landed a job with AT&T as an overseas operator. Improved technology ended that job, and she became a Sales Associate at the bookstore of Carnegie Mellon University from where she retired. Ann loved gardening, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and caring for her beloved dog, Charlie.
Friends are welcome on Wednesday from 4-8pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Avenue at Cable Avenue, East Pittsburgh (412-824-8800) where a Panachida will be prayed on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
Funeral service will be in St. John Orthodox Church, East Pittsburgh, on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Ann will be laid to rest in Plum Creek Cemetery.
