Anna Jo Winn, 92, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2025.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, at Balsora Baptist Church in Balsora, TX, with a graveside service to follow at Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Balsora Baptist Church.

Anna Jo was born on September 15, 1932, in Denton, Texas to Joe and Anna Ruth Grissom, and she devoted her life to caring for and serving others—not only within her own family and extended family but also in her church and the broader community.

Anna Jo was born the second of eight children and served as a second mother to many of her younger siblings. She came to believe in Jesus at the age of 14. She married Bill in 1954 and they had three children together that they raised in Bridgeport, and later raised their grandson there as well. She was a member of Balsora Baptist Church for over 30 years, and she devoted herself to the community there. Given her lifelong vocation for little ones, children’s ministry was her favorite.

Anna Jo was an example of faith, hope, and love and became more like Jesus every day. She was truly His hands and feet. Anna was a hero to many, but especially to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Jack Winn; son, Bill Joe Winn; daughters, Regina Winn and Rodna Urban; three siblings Frances, Wanda, and Inez; and her parents, Joe and Anna Ruth Grissom.

She is survived by grandson Jasper Winn and wife Dana; granddaughter Bailey Winn Lenzen and husband Matt; great-grandchildren Kegan Winn and wife Hannah, Anna Winn, Pake Winn, Owen Lenzen, and Emmett Lenzen; and numerous extended family members and many friends.
