Annabelle Rose Bump was born January 15, 1937. She spent most of her formative years in Cleveland, OH alongside her Vaudevillian parents, Victor and Gladys Bump and her sole sibling, Bob Bump. When attending Ohio State, Annabelle met and married the love of her life, Dr. Richard Charles Waldman. She was just 19 years old when she and Richard were wed. At the time of her passing on October 8th, 2025, Annabelle was 88 years old and had just celebrated her 69th wedding anniversary to her beloved. During their marriage, Anne and Dick became the very best of parents to their children, Karen, Peter, Karleen (with husband, Robert) and granddaughter, Kate (with her fiancé, Kevin). Anne managed to hold down the fort of their young family as her husband pursued his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin. Throughout her life, Anne gave an abundance of care and comfort to all her family as well as to the many friends she collected along the way. Her home was always open to anyone in need. Anne was also a passionate advocate for many causes and interests including the environment (recycling), education, the arts, and LGBTQ+ rights. She was an active participant in many corners of her community including the library, 4-H, quilting organizations, writing groups, and regional theater programs. Her contribution to the Community College’s Yuletide Feast was one of her greatest joys! Anne and Richard’s love of nature led them to purchase a farmstead in Glenrock, PA and then their final farmstead in Austin, MN. Anne particularly loved caring for their flock of sheep and communing with all the birds that would visit the farm. From time to time, she was even known to stop the car on the side of the road to chat with a chipmunk! Anne and Dick’s love of nature can also be seen in their many contributions to The Hormel Nature Center, where a bench has been placed in their honor.

A memorial for Anne will be scheduled in the future; however, those who wish to honor her memory may make a donation to The Nature Center. https://hormelnaturecenter.org/ Anne’s family would also like to thank The Cedars of Austin for taking such good care of her during her twilight years. She knows how very much you all loved her! Annabelle will be greatly missed for so many reasons but perhaps most of all for the loss of her beautiful voice. To the very end of her days, she could not resist lending her voice when music was playing. Annabelle will surely be singing as she now makes her way somewhere over the rainbow.
