Annabelle Irene Hurst

Annabelle Irene (Schroedel) Hurst, 89, passed away on October 21, 2024, in Las Cruces, NM.

Annabelle was born June 21, 1935, in Pinckneyville, IL to Rev. Martin Paul and Irene Fay (McDaniel) Schroedel. She attended Pinckneyville Community High School and graduated from Staunton Community High School, IL. She also attended Southern Illinois University and was a member of Pi Kappa Sigma Sorority which later became Sigma Kappa Sorority. Annabelle married James William Hurst, December 3, 1954, at St. Paul's E & R, United Church of Christ in Staunton IL. She graduated from Governors State University, IL. and taught First Grade and Kindergarten for New Lenox Public School District 122, IL, from1974 through 1992. She retired to Mesilla, NM in 1993. Annabelle was a member of United Methodist Women, Jessie Lynn Circle, St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Las Cruces, NM., and a member of American Sewing Guild.

Annabelle is survived by her daughter, Paula Jean Hurst, Greer, SC, son, Jonathan Douglas Hurst, wife Beth, of Jacksonville, IL; grandson, Christian Maxwell Ronne, Chicago, IL.; and sisters; Maxine, husband Don (deceased), Belleville, IL; Helen McClure, husband David (deceased), Atlanta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 9:30AM to 10:30AM. A Memorial Service will follow at 10:30AM followed by burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL
