Anne Barrows Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lyons Funeral Home on Feb. 24, 2024.
Anne H. (Hyland) Barrows, 83, died peacefully, with family present, on February 21, 2024, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a period of declining health. Anne was the cherished wife of the late Robert A. Barrows, Sr., who preceded her in death just eight months ago, marking the end of a 67 year partnership of love, dedication, and mutual support.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey, on March 2, 1940, to the late Thomas and Agnes (Young) Hyland, she was raised in Carlstadt, New Jersey, before graduating from St. Mary's High School in neighboring Rutherford.
Anne, alongside her beloved husband, Robert, built a warm and loving home in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, where they raised their two sons with love and devotion.
Anne's professional journey began at New Jersey Bell, from where she retired after more than 35 years of service, concluding her career with Verizon. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and she carried this into her retirement, working at the Northeast Harbor Tennis Club in Northeast Harbor, Maine, and at Publix Super Market in Naples, Florida, bringing joy and dedication to every endeavor. Anne often stated that her favorite hobby was work.
Upon retirement, Anne & Bob found joy in summering on Mount Desert Island, Maine, and wintering in Naples, Florida. They were parishioners at St. Anne Church in Naples and Holy Redeemer Church in Bar Harbor, Maine, embodying their faith in their daily lives.
Anne leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her sons, Robert A. Barrows, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Danvers, MA and Bradford Barrows and his girlfriend, Gina Costa, of Brick, NJ; her adored five grandchildren, Courtney McKeown and her husband, Ian of Newmarket, NH, Robert S. Barrows and his wife, Kara of Blauvelt, NY, Katie Laorenza and her husband, Sam of Reading, MA, Christina Sarro and her husband, Jared of Danvers, MA, and Rob Barrows of Brick, NJ; five great grandchildren, Ted, Jeffrey, Lucy, Madison and Jack; her brother, Thomas Hyland of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; her sister, Lucy Caulfield of Sharon, MA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Philip Hyland and Mary Chambers.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 10AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY 10065. Guestbook available at www.LyonsFuneral.com.

I will miss her. I worked with her at NEHSC and what a joy it was to have met her.
I will miss corresponding via mail, our conversations over the phone and in person. She was my kind of feisty! Never a dull moment! Always an opinion! How I adored her. Condolences to her family.
