Anne Coufal Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we say "see you on the other side" to our beloved mom, Anne M. Coufal, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, in Charlotte, NC, at the age of 81. She was comfortable, surrounded by her loving family, and wrapped in the warmth and care she so freely gave throughout her life.

Born on February 12, 1944, in Jersey City, NJ, Anne was the cherished daughter of Anna and John Minick. From the very beginning, she radiated a warmth and humor that would become her signature throughout her life. Her laughter was contagious, her compassion unmatched, and her love for her family absolutely unwavering.

Anne wore many hats in her life: daughter, sister, cousin, friend, devoted wife, loving aunt, fantastic Mama (grandma), and great-grandmother. She was also a proud "pet mom" with a soft spot for animals of all kinds-dogs, cats, birds, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs... you name it. (Ask us sometime about the infamous fish tank incident!) Her deep love and care extended not just to people but to every living thing she welcomed into her home.

Her role as a mother was her most cherished calling. She raised her two sons, George and Frank John, with equal parts grace, patience, and humor-though we definitely tested her limits more than once. It's truly a miracle she didn't strangle us, and we have lots of stories to prove it! But through it all, she was the most tolerant, loving, and supportive mom we could have ever asked for.

Anne was the heart of her family. She created a home filled with laughter, love, and the occasional spontaneous ice cream party or McDonald's trip with the grandkids. She had a gift for making ordinary moments feel magical. Even during the hard times in her later years, she never lost her ability to find joy, share a joke, or simply be present with those she loved. Her sense of humor, warm hugs, listening ear, and boundless compassion made her one of the most genuine people you could ever meet.

She was blessed with a large and loving circle of family and friends, including her two sons, devoted in-laws, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was an active, beloved part of her community and formed lasting friendships that enriched the lives of many. If you knew Anne, you knew you always had a pot of coffee waiting, a shoulder to lean on, and open arms for a hug.

We will miss her beyond what words can express. The world feels a little dimmer without her light, but we are comforted knowing she is reunited with those who went before her-and probably already organizing something fun up there. So Mom, give everyone up there a big hug from us, and-as you always have-put in a good word for us. We'll need it. Thank you for being the best mom, grandma, friend, and all-around amazing human. We love you always.

With endless love and gratitude,

George & Frank John

Anne is survived by her sons, George Coufal of Waxhaw, NC, Frank John Coufal of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Nadean Coufal Lake of Charlotte, NC, Tyler Coufal Dannecker of Charleston, SC, Ian Coufal of Rock Hill, SC, Kaitlyn Coufal of Waxhaw, NC, Conner Coufal of Waxhaw, NC; and 2 great-grandchildren.
