Anne DiScala Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Volk Leber Funeral Home - Oradell on Dec. 28, 2024.
Anne was born and raised in Fall River, Massachusetts to her parents Timothy and Imelda (Santerre) Jewell. She is survived by her son Daniel, brother Martin, and nephew Cody Perry. She also had a recently deceased brother, Timothy Jewell.
Anne attended Mount St. Mary's Academy, then earned her nursing degree at Union Hospital School of Nursing, both in Fall River, Massachusetts. After, she then boldly moved to New York City, where she attended NYU, to continue her passion in healthcare. This is where she met her late husband, Frank DiScala.
The two then migrated out to the suburbs of New Jersey where they raised their two children, Frank and Daniel. Here, the couple also tested their bohemian entrepreneurial skills by opening a jewelry and craft store in nearby Englewood, NJ.
Anne eventually found her way back into her true calling, healthcare, where she had two satisfying decades working with local community doctors. Although, her ambition wouldn't stop there. In her early 50's, she attended night school to earn her Business degree at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, NJ. She then parlayed that degree into her most fullling position as a school nurse for the Lyndhurst grammar school system, where she worked for 12 years until retirement.
Anne had numerous social circles including the "Buono Amici" girls, her monthly theater group, the Mah Jong ladies, and so many more close friends. She also played to her love of music by singing weekly in the St Peter's Catholic Church choir.
Anne has always been described as beautiful, sophisticated, classy, intelligent and kind. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and community.
We should all lead by her example to be kind, genuine, and caring to others. God has blessed this world with Anne, and we are all grateful to have shared our lives with her.
She is so loved. Rest in peace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Anne's honor at St. Peter's Catholic Church, River Edge, NJ on Friday, January 3rd, at 10am. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park on Saturday, January 4th at 10am, in Paramus, NJ.
