Anne was born on September 26, 1936, the eldest daughter of Dr. William Spears Harell and Ernestine Willey Harrell. After graduation with honors from Bogalusa High School, she attended Louisiana State University where she completed a Masters in Business Administration in 1958.
Anne was a campus beauty, active in campus leadership, served as an officer in Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was a Sigma Alpha Epsilon Little Sister. She was the Tri Delta Treasurer 1955-1956. Anne was honored to serve on Louisiana State University's Homecoming Court in 1957.
After LSU She immediately began work as one of the original female underwriters at Travelers Insurance Company Headquarters in New Orleans.
Anne lived in the French Quarter during Her time in New Orleans. There were many family stories shared about Anne's life in the French Quarter and her travels aboard.
Following her Father's death in 1974, Anne returned to Bogalusa and commuted daily to her work at Travelers Insurance Company in New Orleans. Anne was fond of saying she needed maritime insurance since she spent so much time commuting on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge. Upon Anne's retirement and after receiving numerous awards of merit and accolades, she moved back to her beloved Bogalusa.
Anne Harrell was very active at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and served the church in every capacity. She exuded grace and was fiercely loyal to all in her circle.
Her rivalry with Her Tulane alum sister, Etta Arata was notorious, with our Granny usually coming out ahead!
The Memorial Service will be conducted on March 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Parish Hall. Our family would like to thank everyone for all their thoughts and prayers.
