It is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of gratitude for the life she led that we announce the passing of Anne Elizabeth Mallia-Nigrelle, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Anne passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unapologetic honesty that touched everyone who knew her.
Born April 14, 1941, Anne was a force to be reckoned with-fierce, passionate, and always ready to speak her mind. A true firecracker, she lived life on her own terms, with a big heart and an even bigger personality. Her family was her greatest joy, and she dedicated herself fully to raising her children, always putting the needs of others before her own. Whether it was giving her all to her kids, doling out advice whether you wanted to hear it or not, or helping anyone in need, Anne was the first to offer a hand.
Known for her sassy sense of humor and candid honesty, Anne could strike up a conversation with anyone and quickly learn their life story. She had a way of making an impression that lasted a lifetime. People were drawn to her warmth, her unwavering authenticity, and her ability to make everyone around her feel loved and seen. No one who met Anne ever forgot her.
Anne had a passion for life that extended to her many interests, from decorating her home for every holiday to indulging in her favorite pastime of shopping on QVC and HSN. Her love for blow-up decorations and over-the-top celebrations became a signature part of who she was, always adding a little extra sparkle and joy to the world around her.
Vacationing with her sons in Cabo San Lucas was another highlight of her life. Those trips were filled with laughter, love, and memories she cherished deeply. But it wasn't just the big moments that made Anne special-her strength, compassion, and ability to connect with people were the qualities that made her truly unforgettable.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Giovanna Mallia, and her brother, Charles B. Mallia Jr. Her passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who loved her, but we take comfort in knowing that her spirit, her warmth, and her larger-than-life presence will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Anne is survived by her children: Kenny (Becky Nigrelle), Michael (Jennifer Nigrelle), and Michelle Arcidiacono (Tobin Murtagh); her grandchildren: Ashley Nigrelle-Spradley (William Spradley), Megan Nigrelle (John Norris), Lauren Arcidiacono, Anthony Arcidiacono, Trey (Annaya Nigrelle), Tyler Nigrelle (Wendy Clark) and Ramsey (Alexandria Velasquez); and her great-grandchild: Allie Nigrelle.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Arcidiacono, Tyler Nigrelle, Trey Nigrelle, William Spradley, John Norris, Joey Cram, Trey Morse, and Ramsey Velasquez. Honorary Pallbearers are Stan Cox and Phil White.
Anne's family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, October 22, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will begin at 6:30 pm. Funeral mass will be 10:30 am, Thursday, October 23, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial following at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or the ASPCA, causes that Anne supported throughout her life.
Rest in peace, Anne. You were a force of nature, and the world is a little quieter without you. We will miss you fiercely, but we'll carry your light in our hearts forever.

Yesterday

I sat with Anne in June at the Ursuline Luncheon, and she shared her sandwich with me. Loved seeing her and talking with her again. She was a firecracker with a heart of gold! I am missing her already! There was no one like her
