Anne-Marie Moore, a beloved resident of Mashpee, passed away on April 8, 2025 at the age of 81. Born on April 3, 1944, Anne-Marie was known for her zest for life, spunk, artistic ability, and glamour.
Family was everything to Anne-Marie. She was a cherished and compassionate art teacher in the Newton Public Schools and, after retiring, continued to inspire students at Maimonides School in Brookline. Her enthusiasm, energy, passion, and sense of humor made her a wonderful teacher and friend. Anne-Marie's love for travel began with trips to Portugal, Spain, Santo Domingo, Barbados, and many other Caribbean Islands with her parents, children, and siblings. She visited Cuba many times with her late partner, Lester Clemente, and continued her travels by bringing her students to Costa Rica, France, and Great Britain. After moving to Southport in 2015, she traveled to South Africa with Barbara to visit Emily, who was studying there. After each trip, she would paint scenes from her travels.
Anne-Marie was truly the life of the party. She lit up the room with her great sense of style and exuberance. She loved entertaining at her Southport home and at the family beach home at New Silver Beach. Her homes were always open to friends and family. With her sister close by, just a few condos over, she enjoyed fun times with her Parking Pad Pals at dances and fashion shows. They were affectionately known as "The Sisters."
Anne-Marie is survived by her son Monroe Moore, and his wife Barbara, of Burlington, VT; her daughter Maria Van Gelder, and her partner Katherine Dempsey, of Branford, CT; her grandchildren Jaime Moore, and his partner Josie, of Brooklyn, NY, Jack Van Gelder, of Buzzards Bay, MA, and Alexandra Van Gelder, of Worcester, MA; her sisters, Barbara Coutinho, and her husband Tom Williams, of
