Wishing continued strength to the family. Keith Richter is a dear friend and I saw the notice in the Jewish Journal.

I will miss his friendship, texts, calls, articles, announcing the football games, we all know that voice, being a huge part of the Bedford Community. Mike and Dawn coming into the diner every Friday and taking pictures of their food and sending it to their daughters. We would take pics of them, and as I always say "take the pics and create the memories" you just never know. As I listened to all the speakers at his service on Thursday I am amazed what Mike accomplished not just in his life but day to day, simply amazing. On that Monday I arrived at the gym at 6:20 and Mike came in right after me, we talked about the game, he sat directly across from me. With two minutes left in the second quarter he walked down the stands and proceeded out the side gym doors....something he would of never have done. My heart hurts for all of us. The impact one person can make on so many people, communities, careers, kids, sports, and mostly his family is amazing. He told my husband 2 weeks ago "that #4 is on target to not only get 1000 points but to break the all time Bedford record in points for both men and women" we know he passed doing what he loved and we will all be grateful for him and remember him always!!!

I can echo Mike's beautiful statement as well. I remember visiting my friend Dave Boffa who played for the Astros as well, and getting a first hand look at Mike Rosenberg the coach. Mike had a radio playing the celtics vs lakers finals game which was cool. Mike made everyone feel special and it seemed like I was witnessing The Bad News Bears in action because Mike made everybody into a character and everybody felt like they had a important role on the team. Those memories from that one particular day in 1984 has stuck with me all these years later. I was envious because it looked like so much fun to be a part of that Astros team. He was a treasure to the town of Bedford and he will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. My condolences to the entire Rosenberg family. I knew Mike since he drafted me on the Astros a long, long, time ago! He loved coaching sports, talking sports, reporting on sports, and always had a smile on his face and joke at the ready. I recall playing for the Bedford Babe Ruth championship with his beloved Astros and while the other team looked tense and nervous, Mike played a comedy routine on our bench to keep us all laughing and loose before the game. He loved to compete and win, but he always wanted everyone to have fun more than anything. The last time I saw him he came up to me and said, "Hey, remember when..." and we were laughing about something that happened almost 40 years ago! He was a tremendous person that left his mark on so many people and will be missed, but will live on in sooooo many wonderful stories that will be told about him for years to come. Astros forever!

Mike was a special man. I met him, like so many others, at Bedford Athletics event. I was an assistant football coach in the booth and Mike would announce the Friday night football games. He would have a boom box that had a cassette player and he would play the national anthem from a tape before the game began. One night he pushed the button and nothing came out - In true Mike fashion he grabbed the mic and sang a perfect rendition of the national anthem - and the game went on.
Thank You Mike - Bedford will miss you !!

My condolences to my sister in law Rebecca, Dawn and Sarah. I´m shocked at this loss. I never got to spend a lot of time with Mike but the times that I did you could see the love he had for his family and grandchildren. He was such a fun person to watch as he always had great stories. My prayers to his wife and his entire family. God bless .
